Happy New Year!!! I pray for a Happy New Year for all that visit my blog and that God will guide us safely to wherever we need to go.
I have not been posting every day, it seems to be a struggle with finding the time to do everything. I write blogs all day in my head, but can’t find time to put them on my Nook, while I am waiting for kids and sitting in my car, or writing them directly onto the blog at home. Also I haven’t been adding pictures. For a while my phone wouldn’t let me add pictures. I had wanted to be part of the 365 day challenge, adding a picture each day. I even bought a calendar to carry with me so that I could take a picture while I was out and add it to to blog while I was waiting to pick someone up. But … my blog won’t let me add any pictures at all, not from my phone or from my computer. So I have a lot of pictures that will be added when the blog lets me do this. Maybe it’s God’s way of saying “Please write”, or maybe it is a computer glitch.
So this year, lets start a Bible study!!! I am so excited. If we try to have it every day then maybe this will keep me on the blog every day. Lets start with Genesis 1, and read a chapter each day. I have a Revised Standard Version Bible, so that is where my I will be posting a Bible verse each day from. Who’s in??? You can post a comment about the verse that I have posted or post a verse of your own, or post about anything.
Genesis chapter 1.
Genesis 1:3 “And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.”
God is so powerful that he can say “Let there be light” and light appears, or is made, or is there. And he has a plan. This wasn’t random, He knew what he wanted to do, how He wanted to set it up, and He did it. I guess that is why I want to be more like God, not to be powerful, I like have limited power, but to have a plan, to take the time to think it through and to actually do things on my plan. I am sometimes a wanderer. I get caught up in whatever is happening and loose sight of the bigger picture for my family. The day to day is important, but if there is a bigger plan, like things to do over the summer, or getting the once a month cooking done each month, these things are really helpful to my family. Many times I make a plan, think it through and write down everything that needs to be done. I am a list maker. Then I get involved in the latest crisis, happening, daily event at our house and either forget about the plan, or loose my list. I don’t think that I have ADD, but I do need to focus more. This year I have gotten a small notebook to keep in my purse to write my lists on. This way I will always know where the list is, I will just need to remember to look at the list.
Where do you struggle in finding and keeping your direction? How are you trying to overcome this?
We need to have more old pictures of the kids on the fridge. My kids are all out of high school and like seeing pictures of our family when they were young. My first thought was to get some frames and put them on the wall going up the stairs. Now and then I would put different pictures in the frames. The problem was that I bought cheep frames and the first time that we tried to put new pictures into the frames, the frames started to crack. So… the original pictures have stayed in those frames. We still wanted to see new pictures all of the time so now we have new pictures on the fridge. Our fridge does have so many magnets that the pictures don’t stand out, it all needs rearranged. I do take a huge number of pictures so there are a lot to choose from…well we have a lot to choose from of the pictures when the kids were young. Since I have gotten a digital camera and started taking pictures on my phone, I don’t get them developed at all. A friend told me that Snapfish has great deals for developing pictures and Walmart has some deals too, but I haven’t tried them yet. We have the memory cards from a few different cameras and I am worried that the pictures will fade before we get them developed. So…we only have pictures of the kids from when thy were young.
Do you use a digital camera. Where do you get them developed? Where do you have the pictures that you have gotten developed?
written 1/14/14 – Maggie got all of her classes scheduled today. She is happy with her schedule. I am so relieved that she is done. At the last parent meeting they said that we should get a copy of all of their syllabuses. Then we could know when papers are due and when tests are. Then if we see that a big test is coming up and our kids are not studying, we can ask our kids about the upcoming test. It is not to follow their every assignment, just to make sure that they don’t fall off of any cliffs.
Beth has finals starting tomorrow. She has been studying. She loves seeing all of her friends at school and is happy to be back.
A lot of the snow has melted. This last weekend we could see most of the streets. There are still piles of snow in parking lots. They are so big and cold that it takes a while to thaw them.
How is the weather where you are? Please stop by again!
written 1/20/14 – I just went through some family pictures to try to find things to write about. The kids have only been back in school a week but we are already in a routine. Routines don’t make interesting blog posts. I love looking at the old pictures. There are so many memories. Sometimes we get out the boxes of pictures and go through them. Two of the kids have made small albums of their favorite pictures to keep in their rooms. When William graduated from high school he said that he was going to go away to school. I made a photo album for him to take. I was going to take a tape recorder and record all of us talking…maybe one night at dinner…when the kids didn’t know that I was recording. Then if he got homesick he would have the pictures and the recording. In the end he didn’t go away to college so I didn’t make the recording. I probably should. It would be nice to have their voices on tape for me to listen to someday when they all move out.
