8/24/15 Goodwill…

1.26.14 Maggie reorganized her room and brought down some things for Goodwill today. When the kids were young we took a load to Goodwill at the end of each summer. It was a good time for us to sort things out. The kids have their birthdays in September, October and November, and then there is Christmas with another avalanche of toys. At the end of summer we are not into school work yet so we still have some free time, and the kids knew that they had more toys coming to replace the ones that they had given away. We had to do this or we would get buried. He girls would keep ten to fifteen dolls and ten to fifteen baby blankets, etc. William would keep about as much of his army men etc. They never were without toys, but a good sort out is sometimes necessary. The first year of giving was the hardest. The kids understood that they would be getting more toys soon and that they still had a lot. But it was still hard to part with anything. About two weeks after we gave to Goodwill the first time, one day after school Beth was just sobbing. She had given away a doll that was her favorite. She said that she had taken a long time to decide which dolls to give away…remember that she did keep about fifteen dolls…but she regretted not having this one. She was so sad with her tear stained face and sad eyes. I went to the trunk of my car where the Goodwill load was and got her doll. She was so happy. I hadn’t delivered the load because I knew that this would be tough and I wanted to have the toys in case anyone melted down. I kept the toys in the trunk for about another month. Then I asked the kids if it was OK to deliver them now. We had the birthdays and Christmas and the kids got more toys. The next year it was easier. They knew what was happening. I want the kids to have toys, but we can’t have so many that we can’t walk through the house. Now they do their own sorts when they rearrange their rooms. I do go through their items that they are giving away. Sometimes they throw away a yearbook or something else that is precious to them by  mistake. I still keep the items in the trunk for a week or too…just in case.

What yearly events do you or your family do to keep things running smoothly?

12/29/14 cats, garage sale, e-mail contacts and camping…

written 7/8/13 – The cats are getting along better. They have stopped hissing at each other.  Stella follows Mandy around hoping to play. She bats at Mandy’s tail or paws. Mandy plays more now, but not as much as Stella would like.
Yesterday I had a lot to say…today I can’t think of anything.
We had a garage sale over the weekend. Everything that didn’t sell needs to go to the Goodwill. The sale was fun, but not productive
About twice a year, I print off all of my e-mail contacts. My computer has crashed in the past and we have lost everything so it is nice to have a back-up of the e-mail addresses. I need to put all of the phone numbers in my phone into a book and update that after each new number. The kids update their phone list often, I should get into the habit of doing this too.
We need to set up our next camping trip. We feel confident enough to go again. We had a great time on the last trip and learned a lot of good lessons. Hopefully William will go with us. It would be fun to try a different camp ground.

blog income
I have been looking for a way to bring extra cash into my family without getting a second job. I just want enough extra income to be able to pay the bills but still be able to have time to enjoy my kids. I tried a lot of web sites that offered envelope stuffing, they were all dead ends. Then I tried blogging. I figured that if enough people visited my blog then I could add advertisements and get paid. If I monetized my blog I could take the profit to help my family. I have found Blogsvertise. With them I can have advertisements on my blog, or have guest posts or have banner ads. I am still new to this. If I bring other people in to Blogsvertise I can get a percent of what they make. I have the link on the side of my blog. If you click on it you can register your blog and start making money. Please register from my link so they know that you came in through me. If you need to come back later to register please save my page as a favorite and register through my link when you are ready. Thanks ahead of time for registering through me and happy blogging!!!
