written 10/10/13 – We have been talking about working on our 90 day crunch challenge. It is a sit up challenge. We start with five sit ups the first night and every day for ninety days we add five more sit-ups. So the second day we did ten and the third day we did fifteen. We were supposed to continue but instead after the first three days we took a three month break. Also the first three days were not consecutive. We do have the chart. I made a chart so that we can cross the days off as we go along. This saves us from having to remember how many sit ups to do each day. We have decided that at this rate we may be ninety years old and be doing two hundred sit-ups a night to finish the challenge.
Maggie had her school pictures last Friday, Beth has her pictures this Friday. When we get the picture forms I always know that we have made it. The kids are in school, we have school supplies, school clothes and back packs. All of the things for school have been purchased and we can all relax now.
written 8/25/13 – Hi! Welcome to my blog.
We went ice skating yesterday. We haven’t gone in a long time. William went with us. That was nice. He is older and doesn’t go many places with us any more. We also took one of Beth’s friends. We had a full car. When we got there, there were only about five other people going in. As time went on more people showed up. Open skate is for an hour and fifty minutes. After skating in a circle for that long with the same people it becomes like a neighborhood. We begin to know which people are there as families or groups, which little kids can skate so fast around everyone. We become like a new neighborhood. There together in a small area, but all too new to have spoken and introduced ourselves. We exist together, but separate for a while…then open skate is over. We can’t say goodbye to them, we don’t know them…we all go back to our own lives. The next time that we go it will be a different neighborhood.
written 6/4/13 – We forgot to exercise tonight. The chart needs to be moved, maybe to the fridge.
Today is Beth’s last day of school. On the kids first and last day of school, we take the kids pictures. We can take her picture tonight. Some day I am going to get a frame and put all of their first and last day pictures in it.
Beth likes being with her friends at school and will miss them over the summer.
written 6/3/13 – Maggie started summer school today…with her new cell phone. It went well. She came home with the phone and didn’t get into any trouble with it. She said that school was OK. She is taking economics.
The kids had youth group at the church tonight. None of us knew what time it started so we guessed. We got there just as it ended. I e-mailed the head of the group to get the times, and will put it on the calendar. To the kids it is a priority to go, but not a priority to get the times, or put the times on the calendar… We can go next week.
We have started a new exercise program at our house. It is the 90 day crunch challenge. The first day we did 25 sit-ups. Well…really, Beth, Maggie and I did the sit-ups. William tried not to be amused. The second day we need to add five more sit-ups, and add five more each day for 90 days. I made a chart so that we can keep track of what day we are on. By the end we are doing 300 or 400 sit-ups a day. The chart is hanging on the computer so that we can remember the challenge. We will see how it goes.
written 4/11/12 – We played board games a few nights ago. We haven’t played board games in a long time. We played “Blockus 3D” and “Go”. It was a lot of fun. We played for a few hours.
Maggie has been riding the unicycle. She has been holding onto the fence as she rides along it. The last time that she was riding she started by the garage and tried to ride down the driveway. On the first try she was able to the length of a half of a peddle before she fell off. By the time that she came in she was able to pedal twice before falling. Maggie was so pleased. She looks sturdier when she is away from the fence, because she is relaying on her own balance and not on the fence to balance her.
written 4/9/12 – Last Friday night Maggie was able to get onto the unicycle. It was Friday so she didn’t have any homework, it wasn’t raining and we were at home. Her balance is getting better but she is still holding onto the fence.
Yesterday was Easter. The kids and I went to the Easter service on Saturday night. I love Easter. It is such a good time to say all is forgiven and we can start over.
written 3/25/12 – A lot was accomplished on my list of extra things to do, this weekend. I usually can’t say that. Willaim’s bike had two flat tires and it squeaked. It went in to be looked at. The sewing machine went in to be looked at. The Christmas shopping was started. We now have one stocking stuffer. Maggie needed dominoes for her science project. We have the dominoes now.
I am hoping that next week is quiet. Maggie wants to ride the unicycle. Every time that she goes out, it starts to rain.
written 3/20/12 – I made out a list of jobs that needed to be done for our spring cleaning. It is written in my little notebook, so I won’t need to rewrite it again next year. I usually make out the list, get one or two things done and loose the list. I am hoping that with the notebook, I can keep track of it. The list is longer than I expected it to be.
I remember when I was young, before I had kids, I could make a list and accomplish all of it in a day or two. Now there are so many more important things to do. We do get the spring cleaning done, it just takes longer.
The girls are now signed up for ice skating lessons. William won’t go to lessons, but he will go with us to open skate. It starts in a couple of weeks. This session is four lessons. The next session after this is in the fall when the kids go back to school. It is an indoor rink, so we can go to open skate all year.
How do you keep track of the things that you need to get done?
Thanks for stopping by! Please come back tomorrow and see what new adventures we have found!!!
written 3/18/12 – We got the unicycle out on Saturday. The kids were so surprised. They pumped up the tire. William was thrilled to see it, but he said that he would ride it later and went back inside. Beth was all dressed up for St Patrick’s Day and said that she would ride it later. Maggie did ride the unicycle. We have a chain link fence in the backyard by the driveway. Maggie rode there. Maggie said that she didn’t want to take it into the front yard, where there is no fence, until she was sort of steady on it. Then the neighbors wouldn’t see her falling over. I tried it too. It is tough but do-able. It was a bigger work out than I had imagined. On a bike you need to balance to keep from falling over sideways. On a unicycle, you need to not fall over sideways or forward or backward. Maggie and I practiced for about an hour. We need at least two more unicycles so that when the kids get their balance and don’t need to hold onto the fence, they can ride together.
Maggie did get her website finished. She was sure when she got it done that it was OK.
