1/1/16 Happy New Year!!! update on the blog, Bible study…

Happy New Year!!! I pray for a Happy New Year for all that visit my blog and that God will guide us safely to wherever we need to go.

I have not been posting every day, it seems to be a struggle with finding the time to do everything. I write blogs all day in my head, but can’t find time to put them on my Nook, while I am waiting for kids and sitting in my car, or writing them directly onto the blog at home. Also I haven’t been adding pictures. For a while my phone wouldn’t let me add pictures. I had wanted to be part of the 365 day challenge, adding a picture each day. I even bought a calendar to carry with me so that I could take a picture while I was out and add it to to blog while I was waiting to pick someone up. But … my blog won’t let me add any pictures at all, not from my phone or from my computer. So I have a lot of pictures that will be added when the blog lets me do this. Maybe it’s God’s way of saying “Please write”, or maybe it is a computer glitch.

So this year, lets start a Bible study!!! I am so excited. If we try to have it every day then maybe this will keep me on the blog every day. Lets start with Genesis 1, and read a chapter each day. I have a Revised Standard Version Bible, so that is where my I will be posting a Bible verse each day from. Who’s in??? You can post a comment about the verse that I have posted or post a verse of your own, or post about anything.

Genesis chapter 1.

Genesis 1:3 “And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.”

God is so powerful that he can say “Let there be light” and light appears, or is made, or is there. And he has a plan. This wasn’t random, He knew what he wanted to do, how He wanted to set it up, and He did it. I guess that is why I want to be more like God, not to be powerful, I like have limited power, but to have a plan, to take the time to think it through and to actually do things on my plan. I am sometimes a wanderer. I get caught up in whatever is happening and loose sight of the bigger picture for my family. The day to day is important, but if there is a bigger plan, like things to do over the summer, or getting the once a month cooking done each month, these things are really helpful to my family. Many times I make a plan, think it through and write down everything that needs to be done. I am a list maker. Then I get involved in the latest crisis, happening, daily event at our house and either forget about the plan, or loose my list. I don’t think that I have ADD, but I do need to focus more. This year I have gotten a small notebook to keep in my purse to write my lists on. This way I will always know where the list is, I will just need to remember to look at the list.

Where do you struggle in finding and keeping your direction? How are you trying to overcome this?

11/28/15 following directions…

A friend of mine at church wrote a book last year and is going on speaking tours. She is a talented writer and speaker. First she was a speaker at church and felt the nudging from God to write a book, so she did. She followed what God wanted her to do. Now she is feeling the nudge to go on more speaking tours and to write more. So again, she is following God’s will. I am so happy for her, and so sad to see her go and so … envious … that she follows where she is led and I don’t. Why don’t I follow? I am led to write a blog, to share what is happening, good and the bad times from my family so that others can read it, and either get inspiration for their own lives or to see what to do or not to do, based on what we have done. This should be easy for me. I love to talk, I like to write, my family has a lot going on, especially lately, so there is a lot to write about, I can now write on my computer, my nook or my phone and with the kids now being older, I do have a lot of free time t write. But, even with all of that, I don’t post every day, and sometimes not even every week or month. All day, every day I write posts in my head, and sometimes take a lot of pictures to go with my posts, but these posts don’t make it to the blog. Many nights I sit down on the couch and don’t get back up, or we put in a movie that we have or a library movie and I watch it. I could write my posts while we watch a movie, but usually I just watch the movie with my kids. I say to myself that if I am typing, I am not really with the kids, but the kids are on their phones or tablets while they watch the movie.

I want to start posting more, every day and learn to follow God’s will for me. It is odd that I don’t follow where God is leading me. The times that I have followed Him have been truly rewarding. I am not sure if it’s because I am afraid to fail and to not be able to fix the new problems that are now created, or if it’s because I am afraid to succeed. What new areas would I now be in if things started going well, could I manage in a positive thriving environment or would it be too new to me and I couldn’t take care of my family? My kids say that I have lived my life scared. I don’t want to be scared any more.

What scares you? What are you doing to get past the fear? Who or what is your inspiration?

11/15/15 library movies…

Choosing movies for the kids has become much more difficult since the kids are older. When they were young, they hadn’t seen any movies, so any Walt Disney type movie that I brought home was a good choice according to the kids. The kids also got library cards and sometimes we would go to four libraries and check out movies at each one. We only did this on weekends when the weather was really bad and we couldn’t go out to play. Now that the kids are older they don’t like any of my choices. My solutions has been to always take one of the kids with me when we get movies. I do like to get a PBS type movie or two, but the kids pick out the rest of them. They choose the movies and I OK the movies. It has worked out well. The kids are watching the movies again. Sometimes we do get a movie that is different than how it is described on the back of the movie and I take it out of the VCR as soon as I figure this out, but mostly we get to watch all of the movies that we bring home.
What do you watch with your kids? How do you choose?
I need help in making my blog better. What are two things that you would like to see changed on my blog and how should it be changed? What are two things that you like about my blog. Thanks for the feedback!!

fun 3. Cow Evolution – OK, I’ll admit it, I didn’t learn with Platypus Evolution…my kids were playing Cow Evolution and they had an alien and I didn’t. It is more exciting than Platypus Evolution. there is an alien that needs to have my cows given to it. Points are given the for these cows on another planet. So we can switch back and forth from Earth to Mars and there are the aliens on earth that need cows. They have a picture of which level of cow that they are looking for. Also you can  buy hats for the cows. I though that this was silly at first, but I did end up buying a lot of them hats. If you buy one level of cows a hat, all of the future cows in that level get that hat…Also, if you recreate the world, all of the cows in the next world get the same hat, you don’t need to re-buy them. It is sort of a slow game at first, when enough points are accumulated you can get the cows to come every five seconds instead of every ten seconds. This one is very addicting too.

fun 2. Platypus Evolution – the object is to find two platypus that are the same and move them by each other, where they become one platypus that has changed. As the boxes fall you tap on them to get the platypus out. It is really addictive!!!

fun 1. Jewels Star – I started on classic, then tried mineral for a while, then I went back to classic. Mineral is good if I want to accomplish something, but all of the lower levels must be gone to keep playing. In classic if I am doing anything the game keeps going. Very addictive!!!

10/31/15 snow, college and e-mails…

written 2.6.14 – My car was pulled out of snow four times yesterday. New record. It was pulled out of the snow twice on my own street. The neighbors have been so nice. We have a lot of new neighbors and I haven’t met all of them, but…when they hear a car in the street spinning it’s tires, they all come out to help. Thank you so much!!! This winter has been so tough, but it has brought out the good in so many people!!!

I still haven’t mailed the Christmas cards. Is it too late? Call college. How much will it cost if I have two kids in college next year?  Need to find out when Maggie graduates.
2.7.14 need to make weekly checklist for me. All jobs I do each day, week, month. With all of our energy going to helping Maggie change her schedule, or… hyperventilating as she tries to change the schedule, and dealing with all of the snow, and trying to think of things for Beth to do at home as her school is cancelled day after day because of the snow and the cold, I am loosing track of what home, and bill paying things I have done. Maggie still has not dropped all of her classes.
2.10.14 need to do FAFSA paperwork
2.11.14 Maggie e-mailed the lesion that her class schedule is wrong. She sent the e-mail wrong. Asked to drop classes she needs and add classes she doesn’t need.

But also I can post pictures and blogs from today. I am not sure if live posting has spell check, so please forgive me for my spelling errors. I am not a good speller ot typist, so between the two, I am not sure what will be posted. Thanks for visiting my blog! Please come back again!!!

3/28/15 cell phone and adding a picture onto my blog…

written 1/8/14 – I have made more of a commitment to my cell phone. I am relatively new to cell phones, having mine for less than a year. This last month I got our family phone book and entered all of the numbers and addresses into my phone. I have my kids write all of their phones numbers and information into notebooks now and then…they have had phones longer than me. Then if their phone completely dies they have all of the numbers. I need to do this too. There are numbers in my phone that aren’t in the address book.

I tried to add a picture to one of my contacts in my phone. Before kids I could have done this alone, now with kids, I did try, but my daughter ended up cropping the picture and adding it for me. I do think that I can do the next one.

I had some free time and deleted all of the old messages on my phone. The wrong numbers are now gone. Next is the pictures. All of the ones that have been transferred to my blog need deleted.

We have another day off. The snow has stopped but the temperature is -13 deg before the wind chill and there is ice on the roads. Everything is down because of the ice. At this temperature, the salt won’t melt the ice.

Beth is doing math today. Maggie is cleaning her room and William is on the computer.

We added a picture to my blog. I thought that it would go in the top with the title, but it didn’t.

Here is a picture in our front yard with the sign in it. If it snows again it will be buried. We should bring it in so that no one falls on it and gets hurt.
Here is the girls fort.

2/25/15 writing my blog…

written 11/22/13 – One of the comments that was posted was when do I write. How do I fit this in with kids. The comment was from Tasha. Her blog is at if you want to visit her. When the kids were young I wrote in a paper journal in the five free minutes between when the kids went to bed at night and when they all got back up. Eventually there was more time so I could write for more than a few minutes. I wanted to write every day to give the kids a journal of their childhood. Since it was written in a paper journal, I figured that I would need to write at least three journals and they could decide who got each one, or someone could make copies so everyone could have all three. In reality I didn’t write every day. It just didn’t make it to the top of the list. Some days were better than others. As the kids got bigger my free time became the time that I was waiting for them in the car. I wanted to write, but didn’t want to take the journal out…if I lost it then our history was gone. I tried a notebook and then tried to re-write it into the journal. Writing it the first time was fun, re-coping it wasn’t. Then I went to notebook paper that I was going to put into a three ring binder. I wouldn’t need to carry the past writing with me and it wouldn’t need to be rewritten. I kept loosing the papers. Then I went to the computer. But I could only write at home. Eventually I got a Nook. It has worked so far. It is small enough to fit into my purse and the entries can be transferred to the computer. That was probably a lot more information than you wanted to know.

The original question was ‘how do I fit it in?’ I keep changing it as the kids change. I saw a journal for sale in a magazine last year. It was a line per day journal. I have heard from friends that they use this one. It gives them a sense of what was happening in their family over time, without making writing into a job. Right now I am trying to write every day. The kids are older and we are not in any big drama. The year that Maggie started high school I didn’t journal at all. She had a lot of papers to do. They all had to be typed and she had the computer all evening every evening. The most difficult thing for me is to find something to write about. I keep paper with me to write small notes about our day on. Some days we do the normal things and there isn’t anything new to write about so if something happens that I can blog about I want to remember it. Also the kids know that I write and they sometimes they say ‘hey mom, you could write about that.’ Some days I miss and don’t write. It happens. If I have a lot to say about many topics I will type them in and then post them each day. I like being ahead on posting, it relieves the stress.journal

2/21/15 blogging, Beth’s birthday…

written 11/18/13 – I had been trying to write a long post each day. It hasn’t been working. My new plan is to write something each day.

We had Beth’s birthday last Friday. It was fun. Mom came over. We had dinner and cake and ice cream. We did measure on the measuring stick. Beth has been the same height for a few years. The stick that we measure on is six feet tall and about two inches wide. We draw a line on it for the height and put the persons, or pet’s name, their age and the date of their birthday. After three years of Beth not growing, that spot on the board is full. Now we have arrows from the information to the height line. We did not measure the cats this time. They were hiding.

The kids wanted to know if we could use the same stick to measure their kids. I said yes, but it would get really full if they each had a lot of kids. We decided to get a separate stick for each of their families. But…this also means that we would need to get together for all of the grand kids birthdays. They decided that if we all live in separate areas, they can mail me the measurements of their kids.

blog income
I have been looking for a way to bring extra cash into my family without getting a second job. I just want enough extra income to be able to pay the bills but still be able to have time to enjoy my kids. I tried a lot of web sites that offered envelope stuffing, they were all dead ends. Then I tried blogging. I figured that if enough people visited my blog then I could add advertisements and get paid. If I monetized my blog I could take the profit to help my family. I have found Blogsvertise. With them I can have advertisements on my blog, or have guest posts or have banner ads. I am still new to this. If I bring other people in to Blogsvertise I can get a percent of what they make. I have the link on the side of my blog. If you click on it you can register your blog and start making money. Please register from my link so they know that you came in through me. If you need to come back later to register please save my page as a favorite and register through my link when you are ready.
