written 10/10/13 – We have been talking about working on our 90 day crunch challenge. It is a sit up challenge. We start with five sit ups the first night and every day for ninety days we add five more sit-ups. So the second day we did ten and the third day we did fifteen. We were supposed to continue but instead after the first three days we took a three month break. Also the first three days were not consecutive. We do have the chart. I made a chart so that we can cross the days off as we go along. This saves us from having to remember how many sit ups to do each day. We have decided that at this rate we may be ninety years old and be doing two hundred sit-ups a night to finish the challenge.
Maggie had her school pictures last Friday, Beth has her pictures this Friday. When we get the picture forms I always know that we have made it. The kids are in school, we have school supplies, school clothes and back packs. All of the things for school have been purchased and we can all relax now.
written 11 ! 3 ! 13 – Maggie wanted a second back pack from the same company that made the back pack that she carries her school books in. Maggie is fascinated with ordering things online. She found the back pack that she wanted and saved up the money for it. I have an E-Bay account so she bought it through my account. Maggie is thrilled. She can’t wait for it to arrive. The back pack should be here tomorrow or the next day.
We put up our Halloween decorations over the weekend. We are not great at putting up holiday decorations, but when we do put them up we try to get them up before the holiday. We have the witch that ran into the house, a skeleton and some pumpkins outside. The inside decorations were harder to place this year. When we had one cat, we could put things anywhere. She was a quiet cat and didn’t knock too many things off of tables. With two cats, and one being very playful the decisions of where to put things took longer.
written 9 ! 24 ! 13 – My days never seem to go the way that I plan them. Tonight the girls had youth group. I was going to write while they were there. Last weekend Maggie told me that she would need a back pack soon. We didn’t get to it so tonight she said that she needed one now. Maggie doesn’t like to miss youth group, so the backpack must have been a real mess. Last night Beth said that she was going to wear a skirt to youth group. That was nice, but some of her skirts are too short. We got in the car, picked up two of their friends for youth group. I realized that she was wearing a skirt. I couldn’t see the length while she was sitting down. We were already late. How did she get out of the house in a skirt without me seeing her? She trades her outgrown clothes with her friends at school so I am not there when she gets the clothes. We got to the church, looked at her skirt, it was long enough. Maggie and I went to the store to get a backpack. Since we hadn’t planned on buying a backpack today, I didn’t have the money with me. The church is not in our neighborhood so we needed to find an ATM. We looked at the choices of stores while we looked for an ATM, that way if we found an ATM we would know the choices of stores. In the end…we did find an ATM and at the second store we found a backpack that she liked, was big enough and was in our price range. We took Maggie back to youth group. Crisis diverted.
There was another day about a month ago that I had planned to write but one of the kids had taken their phone charger cord outside to take with us in the car…now the part of the phone charger cord with the prongs came off of the cord. The girls had been playing chase in the back yard and the plug in part had come off. They didn’t realize it was missing until we were on our way home. I am not sure why the charger went to the car, they don’t use it there. We spent the evening in the backyard with flashlights looking for the outlet part. We never did find it.
We should stop at the back door on our way out so I could say to the kids “what are you wearing and what are you taking” but we are always running too fast to do that.
I have good intentions to write, but we have a lot of life going on here. My posts would be better written if I had more time to write, but there wouldn’t be as much to write about. I like it this way.
Here is a cow that we saw last weekend.
written 10/3/12 – William will get his last allergy shot tomorrow. It is a relief. He has been getting shots for years.
Maggie wants to take a skateboard to school so that she can get to her college class on time. She has been practicing riding her skateboard this weekend. She needs to be able to direct the skateboard while carrying a backpack.
written 2/26/12 – We got Maggie’s Bible cover and backpack. What a relief. She has a very large Bible so we took it with us to find a cover. My advice was to get a cover with a handle and a pocket. We found a store that has a few choices and good prices. Maggie went through the choices, unzipping them to see if her Bible would fit. She found one that she liked. It has an outer pocket, a handle and a place for two pens. She was very happy.
We went to another store to get a backpack on wheels. We found a large duffel bag on wheels. It is as big as her current backpack. She opened it up to make sure that all of her things would fit in it. She tried all of the zippers and the arm that pulls out when it is being rolled. Maggie made her choice of colors, blue, and we took the bag home.
When we got home, Maggie moved all of her things to the new backpack so she could use it the next day.
written 2/22/12 – Today is Ash Wednesday. Our new church doesn’t have an Ash Wednesday service. On a normal Sunday they have four almost full services. If they had an Ash Wednesday service, they would need to have it four times. I understand, but I still miss the service. Maybe next year we can find a church to go to for Ash Wednesday.
The girls are at Bible study tonight.
Our snowdrop flowers have sprouted, and are blooming in the front yard. They are very pretty. The ones in the backyard and side yards haven’t sprouted yet.
Maggie needs a new backpack and a Bible cover. We are going shopping for them this weekend. Her backpack is still good, but she has to carry so many things to school that it is too heavy. She has wanted a backpack with wheels for a long time, but all of the ones on wheels are small backpacks. A friend of hers at school has a suitcase on wheels that he uses. It seems to be OK at her school, no-one makes fun of him, so Maggie feels comfortable getting one. She is very excited. She will only need to pick it up to get it in and out of the house and car and up and down the stairs at school.
We have been looking for a Bible cover, but her Bible is so big that we haven’t found one so far that will fit. We will look again this weekend.
