I would like to start a Bible challenge. Read a chapter a day from the Bible and leave a sentance on your blog on what you think, or what you didn’t understand, or how you can use this chapter in your life or whatever you choose to write about this passage. Then Google ”Bible challenge” and the day and comment on others comments. We can become stronger as a community if we are lifting each other up.
I thought about starting in Genesis, but I am in Numbers so I will take you along on the adventure that I have already started. Thank you for joining me!
Numbers chapter 4
The people have left Egypt and are in the wilderness. God has just directed Moses and Aaron to number some of the house of Levi. Some of the interesting parts to me are that the only people that are being numbered are the ones from the age of thirty years old to fifty years old. These are the people that work in the tabernacle. When someone is under thirty, they are still old enough to work. What are the people who are in their twenties doing? Do they have other jobs but have not graduated to the tabernacle work yet? Another thing that I found to be interesting is how many people work in the tabernacle. Every time that they move, the whole building needed to be taken down and carried to the next resting place and reassembled. Did they have carts to carry all of it? The dishes, spoons and bowls could be carried by people, but would the curtains and the hangings be too big for a person to carry all day?
Did anyone else have any other thoughts or questions?
This year, lets start a Bible study!!! I am so excited. If we try to have it every day then maybe this will keep me on the blog every day. Lets start with Genesis 1, and read a chapter each day. I have a Revised Standard Version Bible, so that is where my I will be posting a Bible verse each day from. Who’s in??? You can post a comment about the verse that I have posted or post a verse of your own, or post about anything. It started on 1/1/15 if you want to go back and start from the beginning.
“So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all his work which he had done in creation.” Genesis 2:3
This has always been a tough verse for me to follow. I love it and have a tough time with it. When I follow it, it is very refreshing. We go to church on Sunday, relax at meals together, play and catch up. But … sometimes I forget to get everything done on Saturday so that we can have Sunday off, we need to fold all of the laundry and match our outfits for the next week, get all of the cooking done for the next week, or sometimes we do once-a-month cooking and we need to do all of the housework, like vacuuming. This really sounds like a long list, but after doing this each week, it doesn’t take that long … on the weeks that we really do it. A lot of weeks we get busy, or decide to play on Saturday and don’t match the clothes or make the meals ahead, then on Sunday I realize that nothing is done and we need to do everything that day.
When we do rest on Sunday, it makes a big difference. The next week goes smoother and we are more cemented, interwoven, bonded as a family because we got to spend time together.
Are you able to rest on Sunday? How are you able to get everything done?
Happy New Year!!! I pray for a Happy New Year for all that visit my blog and that God will guide us safely to wherever we need to go.
I have not been posting every day, it seems to be a struggle with finding the time to do everything. I write blogs all day in my head, but can’t find time to put them on my Nook, while I am waiting for kids and sitting in my car, or writing them directly onto the blog at home. Also I haven’t been adding pictures. For a while my phone wouldn’t let me add pictures. I had wanted to be part of the 365 day challenge, adding a picture each day. I even bought a calendar to carry with me so that I could take a picture while I was out and add it to to blog while I was waiting to pick someone up. But … my blog won’t let me add any pictures at all, not from my phone or from my computer. So I have a lot of pictures that will be added when the blog lets me do this. Maybe it’s God’s way of saying “Please write”, or maybe it is a computer glitch.

Genesis chapter 1.
Genesis 1:3 “And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.”
God is so powerful that he can say “Let there be light” and light appears, or is made, or is there. And he has a plan. This wasn’t random, He knew what he wanted to do, how He wanted to set it up, and He did it. I guess that is why I want to be more like God, not to be powerful, I like have limited power, but to have a plan, to take the time to think it through and to actually do things on my plan. I am sometimes a wanderer. I get caught up in whatever is happening and loose sight of the bigger picture for my family. The day to day is important, but if there is a bigger plan, like things to do over the summer, or getting the once a month cooking done each month, these things are really helpful to my family. Many times I make a plan, think it through and write down everything that needs to be done. I am a list maker. Then I get involved in the latest crisis, happening, daily event at our house and either forget about the plan, or loose my list. I don’t think that I have ADD, but I do need to focus more. This year I have gotten a small notebook to keep in my purse to write my lists on. This way I will always know where the list is, I will just need to remember to look at the list.
Where do you struggle in finding and keeping your direction? How are you trying to overcome this?
written 7/18/12 – Maggie had to take English in summer school. Summer school started a week before their mission trip for church. She had enough done in the class that the teacher let her have the week off to go on the trip. Maggie had worked really hard to get enough done to be allowed to leave for a week. I told her that the class came first. If the teacher said that she needed to stay and be present in the class, then that is how it would be.
There were thirty-two kids and seven adults on the mission trip. They took two vans and an SUV. One of the vans pulled a trailer that had their luggage and supplies for the vacation Bible school in it. The kids went to New Orleans for a week to do a vacation Bible study in the morning and to go and play with the kids in the neighborhoods in the afternoon.
written 5/2/12 – Maggie is at Bible study tonight. Beth is at Lego League which is a group that teaches kids how to program robots. They sponsor a big compotition at her school once a year. Grade school and Junior High kids come in teams and compete with their robots.
We have started cleaning out the basement. It is going well. A lot of it is clothes that should have gone to the Goodwill and boxes that need repacked. I will be glad when this project is done.
written 3/13/12 – Beth gave her friend at school the Bible yesterday. It has a bookmark in it so he moved it to the beginning of the book.
Tonight Maggie is doing homework. Her paper/project is now due Monday because they are having proficiency testing this week. She has her website close to being done.
Beth went across the street tonight to her friends house. She took her glove so that they could play catch.
I am ready to start the spring cleaning.
