a cross, a smile and the dribbles from my breakfast…
written 1/21/14 – We will have another garden this summer. We need to look at the seed packages and see when we need to start the seeds. Last year we saved two kinds of tomato seeds. We will try them to see if they sprout. This is our first try saving seeds. We have a small yard with a swing set in it so we have a small garden. We used to have three chickens so they had a large corner of the yard. Our yard is really too small for chickens so we gave them to a friend. They were named Millie, Hattie and Nettie. The kids called them Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We miss them. We still have the chicken coop just in case we can get some chickens later.
written 1/20/14 – I just went through some family pictures to try to find things to write about. The kids have only been back in school a week but we are already in a routine. Routines don’t make interesting blog posts. I love looking at the old pictures. There are so many memories. Sometimes we get out the boxes of pictures and go through them. Two of the kids have made small albums of their favorite pictures to keep in their rooms. When William graduated from high school he said that he was going to go away to school. I made a photo album for him to take. I was going to take a tape recorder and record all of us talking…maybe one night at dinner…when the kids didn’t know that I was recording. Then if he got homesick he would have the pictures and the recording. In the end he didn’t go away to college so I didn’t make the recording. I probably should. It would be nice to have their voices on tape for me to listen to someday when they all move out.
