11/30/14 grills and learning…

written 3/10/13 – We are going to get a grill and some charcoal. The kids need to learn a new skill. They are in college and high school, so they are old enough.
Two summers ago we got a drill and we all learned to use it. The safety talk took a while…we had to talk about how permanent the damage would be if there was an injury, and we all had to use safety glasses and ear plugs. Everyone did really well. We drilled holes in some PVC pipe for our garden. The water is put into the pipe and leaks out of the holes to water the plants that are planted right by the holes.
The year before William started using the hedge trimmers to cut the front bushes. I was really glad that he could take over that responsibility. When I cut the hedges, they always end up looking like two eye brows. William can get a neat, straight, cut.

I have added Google Page Rank to the side bar of my blog. If you click on it and add your blogs URL it can tell you your blogs ranking by Google. I am at zero. Ten is the highest.

11/29/14 school and the basement…

written 3/10/13 – We need to sign William up for school for this summer. He never says how things are going, but he smiles a lot, so things must be OK. Maggie had spring break last week. Her dream for break was to go to the library and get a lot of movies and books.  She went to grandmas each day. They took Beth to school each day. Maggie had a great time.

The kids helped me clean out some of the basement. We combined boxes and sorted out things for Goodwill. The basement looks a lot better. We still have a long way to go, but this is an improvement. When I am not cleaning out the basement, I think, we should be able to get rid of a lot of things, but then when we are actually sorting, it is more difficult to do.

1/31/14 warmer weather and meetings, Day 31/365…

We had a wind chill of zero today. It actually felt warm. It has been about five degrees with a wind chill of negative twenty to forty all week. The schools were closed. It was the kind of weather where you would get out your winter gloves and hope that the radio station plays all of your favorite songs. It was too cold to take the gloves off to change the station and the gloves are too large to leave on and change the station. Beth was upset that school was closed, she loves school…really she loves seeing all of her friends. She spent a lot of time on Facebook with her friends and on U-tube listening to her music.
We have a parent student teacher meeting tonight at Maggie’s school to look at the kids progress. We get our kids transcripts and see if they are on schedule. It is good to get together once a year with the counselor and Maggie to see if she is on track. Maggie is starting to look a lot at applying for scholarships.

Please visit us again tomorrow!!!

1/30/14 art class and shoveling, Day 30/365…

Maggie is taking an art class. Last weekend her assignment was to draw something. She set up a few items in the living room and began to draw. She started with a tea pot and a cup, but decided that they would be too difficult to draw. She changed to a can of food and a bowl. The cats climbed all over the items that she was drawing and all over her paper. They need to be the center of all of the activities. Finally we put the cats in a bedroom. When we went to check on the cats, they escaped. We only have two cats, but they can be in every room all at one time. 1293 1302

Last weekend we went outside to shovel the snow. We also shoveled for one elderly neighbor. We used to have three elderly neighbors to shovel for, but unfortunately two of them passed away. Our drives aren’t that long so shoveling for a few neighbors doesn’t take that much time. What do you do on the weekends?

If you like what you have read, please come back tomorrow!

11/23/14 homework, Christmas ornaments and school…

written 1/17/13 – William is doing his homework at home each day, I am not sure why he isn’t going to the computer labs at school. He looks happy.  It is nice to have him home for dinner each night.

I am hoping to take the Christmas tree down today. We had so much going on in the beginning of the month that we didn’t get to it. Also, we don’t like to take it down right away, it is nice to keep the Christmas feeling. Last year we got a big plastic container for all of the decorations. We put the lights in first then added the ornaments. When we were ready to put the tree up this year, we needed to take out all of the ornaments and put them on the couch and table to get to the lights. What a mess. When we take the tree down this year, we need to put the lights into the container last.

Beth had her last final today and has tomorrow off. Maggie has school tomorrow.

11/22/14 school, projects and calendars…

written 1/7/13 – William was excited for school to start today. He was up before I called him.  Maggie does not have any night classes this semester, so when the kids are picked up tonight, I won’t need to go back out and get anyone. Cheer cheer…
I have some projects that I want to work on this year. We have an extra calender that we can use to put the project items on. We have tried to put projects on our regular calendar, but if our family gets busy, it is the projects that are skipped and the calender becomes a mess. If the projects are on a separate calender, they won’t interfer with the regular calender.
The regular calender needs to be updated with yearly events, like birthdays. Also, school days off need to be added. The kids have dinner jobs and the laundry and dishes job needs to be added. The quicker I get the new calender updated, the easier my year is.

11/21/14 looking at last year and school starting…

written 1/6/13 – This is a new year. At church today the talk was about taking control of your schedule. He said to look at what activities fill you up and which ones drain you. The talk last week was about new year resolutions, and looking back at last year to see what went well, what didn’t go well and where God was pointing you. I did that. It was very surprising to see an overview of the year. Today’s talk was about looking at what drains you and fills you up.
William starts school tomorrow. Maggie started school last week, but her college classes start tomorrow. Beth starts school tomorrow.

11/20/14 Halloween…

written 10/31/12 – Beth wants to go trick-or-treating, but we are waiting for the sewer man to come and see if the new gas lines that were put in have punctured the sewer lines. Maggie needs to be picked up at 8:15 tonight from art class.
We went trick or treating tonight. It was fun. Beth and I went, she wanted to run to each house. We ended up walking fast. There were a lot of kids on some streets, and a lot of the houses were decorated, not with a lot of decorations, but with some lights and pumpkins, it was festive. We were out for about an hour.
The man from the sewer company didn’t come over. I called him and heard that all of the work was cancelled for today because of the weather. He said that the gas company may call if they want to come and look at the pipes.

Maggie had art class tonight. They took pictures of their faces, close up, and they had the pictures enlarged to 8 1/2 x 11. Then they started gluing pieces of newspaper over the picture. She has used one color of newspaper for the hair and a different color for the back ground. They haven’t finished the whole face yet.

11/19/14 new classes and math class…

written 10/23/12 – Yesterday William and Maggie signed up for their classes for the spring semester.
Beth is doing geometry on the computer. Her math class is online. They have a math class and a teacher, but each student works at their own pace on the computer. Her semester ends tomorrow. She needs to do a lot of math tonight. She can still work in class tomorrow.

blog income
I have been looking for a way to bring extra cash into my family without getting a second job. I just want enough extra income to be able to pay the bills but still be able to have time to enjoy my kids. I tried a lot of web sites that offered envelope stuffing, they were all dead ends. Then I tried blogging. I figured that if enough people visited my blog then I could add advertisements and get paid. If I monetized my blog I could take the profit to help my family. I have found Blogsvertise. With them I can have advertisements on my blog, or have guest posts or have banner ads. I am still new to this. If I bring other people in to Blogsvertise I can get a percent of what they make. I have the link on the side of my blog. If you click on it you can register your blog and start making money. Please register from my link so they know that you came in through me. If you need to come back later to register please save my page as a favorite and register through my link when you are ready.
